What is Zammad?
Zammad is an open-source helpdesk and customer support platform. Requests from email, chat, phone and social media arrive as tickets in one shared web interface, so your team can handle, assign and follow them centrally. Zammad is released under the open-source licence AGPL-3.0. Because it runs on your own server, tickets, customer data and attachments stay in Germany and under your control. We handle installation, updates and daily backups. Ask for advice
Which Zammad version do you install?
We install the open-source Zammad under the AGPL-3.0 licence, which you can run on your own server without licence costs. We set up Zammad, keep Zammad and the system up to date and back up the data daily. We are happy to answer questions about further offerings from the vendor on request. Send an enquiry
What server size do I need for Zammad?
Besides the application, Zammad needs a PostgreSQL database and Redis; search with Elasticsearch is optional but expressly recommended by the vendor. The vendor states at least 2 CPU cores and 6 GB RAM, plus 4 GB if Elasticsearch runs on the same server. That is why our Zammad servers start with VZAM350: with 16 GB RAM it leaves room for Zammad including Elasticsearch on the same server. VZAM450 with 32 GB offers further headroom. We are happy to discuss which size suits your team. Ask for advice
Do I get root access?
No. The servers are managed servers: you work via SSH and in the Zammad web interface, and we handle installation, updates and monitoring. This keeps the server secure and up to date. Because we take responsibility for secure operation, root access is not included. For you this means no effort for patches and maintenance, and more time for your projects. If you need additional software or a special configuration, our specialists set it up for you by arrangement.
Can you install additional applications?
Yes. We install and configure email accounts, further channels or integrations by arrangement. This turns your server into a complete development and project environment, looked after by a single provider. It is important that the server has enough resources for all applications – we are happy to recommend the right size. For special requirements we also design your environment individually, for example with high availability on our VEP Cloud. Send an enquiry
What is the contract term?
The minimum term is 1 month. You order your Zammad server conveniently via our order form, and we set up the server and Zammad for you. All prices are monthly and include 19% VAT; alternatively you can pay yearly – you will find the yearly prices with each plan. If you have questions about the contract or the right server size, our specialists are happy to advise you personally.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes, you can move to a larger server at any time. If your team grows or the load increases, you can switch from VZAM350 to VZAM450, for example, and get more CPU cores, memory and NVMe storage. That way you start with the size you need today. For even higher requirements we run your server with high availability on our own VEP Cloud on request. Get in touch – we plan the switch together with you.
Where are the servers located?
In German data centres. LCube itself is certified to ISO/IEC 27001, and operation is GDPR compliant. Your server runs on brand-name hardware with unlimited traffic and is backed up daily. Our team is based in Germany too – when you have questions, you reach experienced specialists rather than a call centre. We have been providing hosting for businesses since 1995 and know what secure development and project environments require.
