Questions about Java Basic
Is Java Basic enough for my application?
Java Basic is designed for Java applications with 1 GB storage, 100 GB traffic and 10 MySQL databases. Memory is often the deciding factor: 64 MB are guaranteed, and you add more when needed. If your application keeps growing, you move to a larger plan or a managed vServer without data loss.
Can I test Java Basic for free first?
Yes. You can test Java Basic free of charge and without obligation for one month: click “Try free for 1 month” or tick the trial option in the order form. During the trial you deploy your application to your own Tomcat instance via the Tomcat Manager and check whether 1 GB of storage and 10 MySQL databases are sufficient. After the trial period you receive an email. If you want to continue, book Java Basic for 8,90 € per month incl. VAT – your data and access details are kept. If you do not reply, the trial plan is deleted and there are no costs. One trial plan is possible per customer.
What distinguishes Java Basic from Java Starter?
Java Basic offers twice the storage and traffic as well as ten instead of five MySQL databases. This makes it suitable for production applications with more data, files and visitors. Tomcat instance, Tomcat Manager and automatic restart are the same in both plans. You can expand the memory in every plan whenever needed.
Can I run several applications in one Tomcat instance?
Yes. In your Tomcat instance you deploy several web applications side by side, each under its own context path. Keep in mind that the applications share the instance’s memory. For several larger applications we recommend booking additional memory or running individual applications in separate plans.
How do I deploy my application?
You upload your application as a WAR file in the Tomcat Manager and start it there. The Tomcat Manager also shows which applications are running, and you can reload or stop them. You trigger a complete restart of your Tomcat instance via a trigger file. Our specialists are happy to help you personally with the initial setup.
Can I move from Java Basic to a larger plan later?
Yes, at any time. If 1 GB of storage, 100 GB of traffic or 10 MySQL databases are no longer enough, you move to Java Pro with 2 GB of storage, 200 GB of traffic and 20 databases.
