Is 30 GB enough for my repositories?
Whether 30 GB is enough depends on the size and history of your projects. Plain source code usually needs little space, whereas binary files, many branches and long histories need considerably more. Users and repositories are unlimited in every plan – you only choose by disk space. If space gets tight, you can move to a larger plan at any time. For more than 300 GB or special requirements, we will gladly prepare a custom quote.
How do I work with external freelancers in Git Starter?
Simply create a separate user for each freelancer in the web interface and give them access only to the repositories they work on. As users are unlimited in every plan, each additional account costs nothing extra. Access is via HTTPS or via SSH with public key, optionally secured with two-factor authentication. When the collaboration ends, you revoke the rights in a few clicks – your code stays fully under your control.
Is Git Starter worthwhile as a secure home for my projects?
Yes. Many developers use Git Starter as a central, secure copy of their source code alongside their local working copy. Your repositories are stored on a highly available cluster in German data centres and are also backed up daily. If a laptop is lost or a hard disk fails, your complete history with all branches and tags is still there. With 30 GB of storage you usually have plenty of room for plain source code.

How do I move existing repositories?
Create the repository with us and transfer it with git push --mirror – including all branches, tags and the complete history. Afterwards you only need to update the remote URL in your local working copies, for example with git remote set-url origin. You set up users, organisations and access rights conveniently in the web interface. If you have questions about the move, our specialists will help you personally – no call centre.
