Frequently asked questions about SVN & Git servers
Do I need my own server or is a plan enough?
For most teams a plan such as ReposOnly or ReposDev is perfectly sufficient. Your own REPOS server pays off when many users work at the same time, your repositories are very large, load is high or you want to run additional applications such as Jira or Jenkins. You then benefit from guaranteed CPU cores, RAM and NVMe storage reserved for your team. Not sure? Our specialists will advise you personally and recommend the right solution.
Do I get root access?
No, root access is not included with REPOS servers. They are managed servers: you work comfortably via SSH and in Plesk Web Pro, while we handle installation, updates and monitoring of the server. This is the only way we can take responsibility for secure, stable and up-to-date operation. For you, that means less administration and more time for your projects. We are happy to set up additional software for you by arrangement.
Can you install Jira, Confluence or Jenkins?
Yes. We install and configure Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Redmine and other applications on your REPOS server by arrangement. This lets you run repositories, issue tracking, wiki and build processes on one server – all looked after by one provider. Our specialists will clarify your requirements with you and recommend the right server size; for large teams with several tools the VREPOS 450 is a good fit, for example. Ask for advice
What is the contract term?
The minimum term for all REPOS servers is 3 months. So there is no long commitment, and you can try your server calmly in your team’s day-to-day work. Prices are monthly and include 19% VAT; the price for yearly payment is shown with every plan. You order conveniently via the order form of the server you want. If you have questions about the term or billing, our specialists will be glad to help you personally.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes, you can move to a larger REPOS server at any time. If your team grows, new projects are added or you want to run additional applications such as Jira or Jenkins, simply switch to the next plan up with more CPU cores, RAM and NVMe storage. Repositories and developers are unlimited on every server anyway. If even the largest server is no longer enough, we will plan a highly available environment on our VEP Cloud or a dedicated server with you.
Do you help migrate my repositories?
Yes, we are happy to help you move your existing SVN and Git repositories to your new REPOS server. Our specialists agree the procedure with you personally so that your team can keep working with as little interruption as possible. Afterwards you manage users, groups and permissions conveniently in SVNDevAdmin. Just get in touch before or after your order – we will take care of a smooth switch. Contact us
Where are the servers located?
All REPOS servers are located in German data centres and are looked after by our team in Germany. LCube itself is certified to ISO/IEC 27001, and operation is GDPR compliant. Your source code – often your company’s most valuable know-how – therefore stays in Germany. In addition, your server is backed up daily, and if you have questions you get personal support from our specialists instead of a call centre.
