Frequently asked questions about TYPO3 hosting
From which plan can I run TYPO3?
TYPO3 runs from the PowerPaket upwards, because it needs a MySQL database and PHP 8. In the PowerPaket you install TYPO3 the classic way by uploading the package and completing the installation in the browser – there is no SSH access or installation assistant there. For most projects we therefore recommend the BusinessPaket with SSH access.
Why do you recommend the BusinessPaket for TYPO3?
The TYPO3 project recommends installing via Composer. For this you need SSH access, which is available from the BusinessPaket. This lets you install and update TYPO3 and extensions cleanly on the command line and keep your installation up to date more easily. You also get three domains and 20 MySQL databases, for example for a test and a live environment.
When do I need a managed vServer for TYPO3?
A managed vServer pays off for large TYPO3 websites with many pages, editors and visitors, or when several installations need dedicated resources. You get guaranteed CPU, memory and NVMe storage, manage your websites in Plesk and work with Composer via SSH. We take care of operation, server updates, monitoring and backup. Root access is not included with the managed vServer.
When is the VEP Cloud worth it for TYPO3?
We recommend the Virtuozzo Enterprise Cloud for business-critical TYPO3 sites where an outage costs enquiries, revenue or trust. Do you move my TYPO3 website?

Who takes care of TYPO3 updates?
We take care of operating the platform and – with the managed vServer and on the VEP Cloud – the server. You or your agency update the TYPO3 core and extensions. On request our specialists also take over these updates, charged by effort, for example regularly or before a version upgrade. Contact us and we will prepare a suitable quote.
