Is Laravel a programming language?
No. Laravel is a framework for PHP, a toolkit of ready-made components for routing, database access, authentication, queues and templates. You still program in PHP. Because Laravel is one of the most popular and powerful PHP frameworks and brings its own requirements such as Composer, Artisan and the scheduler, we present it separately among the programming languages.
From which plan can I run Laravel?
From the PowerPaket. It includes the Laravel Toolkit in Plesk, with which you install dependencies via Composer, run Artisan commands, set up the scheduler and deploy your application from Git. Ten MySQL databases are included. The Micropaket lacks the database that Laravel applications usually need.
Do I need SSH access for Laravel?
No. The typical tasks – installing Composer dependencies, running migrations and other Artisan commands, starting the scheduler and rolling out new versions from Git – are handled in the Plesk Laravel Toolkit. If you prefer the command line or need Node.js for frontend builds, choose the BusinessPaket or BusinessPaket Pro with SSH access.
Can I test the plan for free first?
Yes. You can test the plan free of charge and without obligation for one month: click “Try free for 1 month” or tick the trial option in the order form. After the trial period you receive an email. If you want to continue, book the plan – your data and access details are kept. If you do not reply, the trial plan is deleted and there are no costs. One trial plan is possible per customer.
When do I need a managed vServer or the VEP Cloud?
When your Laravel application needs dedicated resources – for example with many concurrent users, compute-intensive processes or several applications – a managed vServer is the next step. There you work with Composer via SSH, while we take care of operation, server updates, monitoring and backup. For business-critical applications the VEP Cloud offers up to 99.99% stated availability.
Which PHP version do I need for Laravel?
Current Laravel versions require PHP 8. Our web hosting plans support PHP 7.4 to 8.x, so you can run current and older Laravel applications. The exact PHP version your application needs is stated in the requirements of your Laravel version and in your project's composer.json. Our specialists are happy to help with any questions.
