Questions about ReposOnly Enterprise
Is 15,000 MB enough for my repositories?
That depends on the size and history of your projects: plain source code usually needs little space, while binary files and long histories need considerably more. If you reach the 15,000 MB limit, we do not block access – you receive an info email and keep working without interruption. If needed, you can move to a larger plan at any time; repositories and developers stay unlimited. Compare all plans
Is Subversion or Git better for large binary files?
With many large binary files, Subversion plays to its strengths: your team only checks out the directories it needs, and only the current state is stored locally. With Git, on the other hand, every clone contains the complete history, and large files quickly make repositories unwieldy. In ReposOnly Enterprise you use both side by side – for example Git for source code and SVN for graphics, CAD data or media. That way you choose the right system for each project.
When does a dedicated SVN & Git server pay off instead of ReposOnly Enterprise?
Your own REPOS server pays off when many developers work at the same time, load is high or you want to run applications such as Jira, Confluence or Jenkins right next to your repositories. You get guaranteed CPU cores, memory and 40 to 320 GB of NVMe storage, while we handle installation, updates and backups. Do I need SSH access for Git?
No, ReposOnly does not require SSH access: you reach your SVN and Git repositories via HTTPS with an official SSL certificate. Every common client supports this, and it usually works even in corporate networks with restrictive firewalls. If you still want to use Git via SSH, for example with key-based authentication, we recommend our Git hosting with SSH access, 2FA and 30 to 300 GB storage.
