Java web applications need a stable runtime: in our Java plans every customer gets their own Tomcat instance – independent of other applications, with the Tomcat Manager for deployment and administration and current Java and Tomcat versions of your choice.
This includes a domain, mailboxes, MySQL databases as well as PHP, CGI and Perl for supporting scripts. Your applications run on highly available servers in a cluster in German data centres and are backed up daily. On script errors or memory problems Tomcat restarts automatically – a big help, especially during development. You can test every plan free of charge for one month.

Frequently asked questions about Java hosting
What does your own Tomcat instance mean?
Every Java plan gets its own Tomcat instance that runs only your applications. This way applications of different customers cannot affect each other – neither through errors nor through high load. You manage your instance in the Tomcat Manager, deploy new versions there and always keep an eye on the state of your applications.
Can I test the Java plan for free first?
Yes. You can test the Java plan free of charge and without obligation for one month: click “Try free for 1 month” or tick the trial option in the order form. During the trial you deploy your application to your own Tomcat instance via the Tomcat Manager and check start-up, memory and response times under real conditions. After the trial period you receive an email. If you want to continue, book the Java plan – your data and access details are kept. If you do not reply, the trial plan is deleted and there are no costs. One trial plan is possible per customer.
Which Java and Tomcat versions are available?
You choose current Java and Tomcat versions to match your application. This lets you run new projects on modern versions while continuing to use older applications until they are migrated. Our specialists are happy to discuss which combination makes sense for your project – including the migration of existing applications.
How much memory is available?
Every Java plan includes 64 MB of guaranteed Java memory. If your application needs more, add 64 MB for €2.49 or 128 MB for €3.99 per month. For memory-intensive applications needing several gigabytes we recommend a managed vServer, where all resources are available to you exclusively.
What happens if my application fails?
If script errors or “out of memory” messages cause a crash, Tomcat restarts automatically. With a trigger file you can also restart your Tomcat instance yourself. This saves a lot of time, especially in early development phases. Our servers also run as a cluster: if one machine fails, the second takes over almost instantly.
Can I change my plan later?
Yes, at any time and without data loss. When your project grows, move to the next larger Java plan with more storage, traffic and databases. If that is no longer enough, we move your application to a managed vServer. Our specialists plan and accompany the switch personally with you.
