Questions about ReposDev Starter
Is 2,000 MB enough for my projects?
That depends on the size and history of your repositories and websites, as the 2,000 MB are shared between both. Plain source code usually needs little space, while binary files, media and long histories need considerably more. If needed, you can move to a larger plan at any time without data loss or add storage – repositories, developers and traffic stay unlimited in every plan. Compare all plans
Can I show clients their projects for sign-off in ReposDev Starter?
Yes. Create a subdomain such as client.your-domain.com with its own database for every client project – subdomains are unlimited, and five MySQL databases are included. There your client sees the current development state long before the project goes live. On request, they also get their own repository login and follow changes in the browser via WebSVN or GITWeb. This saves rounds of coordination and builds trust.
When should I move from ReposOnly to ReposDev Starter?
The move pays off as soon as you want to not only version your projects but also run or test them. ReposDev Starter offers the same 2,000 MB as ReposOnly Starter, plus one domain, five MySQL databases, PHP, email as well as SSH and FTP access. Note that repositories and websites share the storage. You transfer your repositories including their history with the standard tools of SVN and Git – our support team is happy to help.
Can I use more domains?
Yes. ReposDev Starter includes 1 domain, and you can add more domains at any time. Subdomains are unlimited – ideal for test and staging environments or individual client projects under their own addresses. You also get up to 500 mailboxes with IMAP push and encrypted connections. Do I need SSH access for Git?
You do not need SSH access for the repositories: with ReposDev, SVN and Git run via HTTPS with an official SSL certificate, which every common client supports. You access the web hosting plan itself via SSH and FTP/FTPS, for example for deployments, scripts or file transfers. If you specifically want to use Git repositories via SSH, we recommend our Git hosting with SSH access, 2FA and 30 to 300 GB storage.
