Questions about Git Team
Is 70 GB enough for my repositories?
Whether 70 GB is enough depends on the size and history of your projects. Plain source code usually needs little space, whereas binary files, many branches and long histories need considerably more. Users and repositories are unlimited in every plan – you only choose by disk space. If space gets tight, you can move to a larger plan at any time. For more than 300 GB or special requirements, we will gladly prepare a custom quote.
Why do you recommend Git Team for most development teams?
With 70 GB, Git Team offers considerably more space than Git Starter and therefore real headroom for growing projects. Many branches, release tags and a history built up over years need more storage than expected at the start. Users, repositories and organisations are unlimited, so you do not pay per developer. Your team grows without extra costs, and you do not have to keep a constant eye on storage. Should space get tight after all, you can move to Git Business at any time.
How do I secure access for a larger team?
The more people access your code, the more important clear rules become. Group your repositories into organisations and assign permissions specifically per team or project. Enable two-factor authentication and use public keys instead of passwords for SSH access. When someone leaves the team, you revoke their rights centrally in the web interface. Encrypted access and our ISO/IEC 27001 certified processes provide additional security.
Can I try it first?
Yes, you can try our Git hosting free of charge and without obligation for one month – with 30 GB storage like the Git Starter plan plus unlimited users and repositories. The trial ends automatically, with no cancellation and no costs. If you like what you see, book Git Team or another plan afterwards: your data is kept and you keep working without interruption. Go to the free trial
Can I move from Git Team to another plan later?
Yes, you can change your plan at any time. Users and repositories are unlimited in every plan; the plans differ only in disk space. If the 70 GB of Git Team get tight, you move to Git Business with 150 GB – so you only ever pay for the storage your repositories actually need. Our personal support is happy to advise you on the right size. All plans
How do I move existing repositories?
Create the repository with us and transfer it with git push --mirror – including all branches, tags and the complete history. Afterwards you only need to update the remote URL in your local working copies, for example with git remote set-url origin. You set up users, organisations and access rights conveniently in the web interface. If you have questions about the move, our specialists will help you personally – no call centre.
