Frequently asked questions about Cloudflare
Do I have to move my domain to Cloudflare?
No, your domain remains registered where it is – for example with LCube. For Cloudflare, only the name servers of your domain are switched to Cloudflare so that Cloudflare manages the DNS records and receives requests to your website. We take over all existing records, check them and only switch once everything is complete. This keeps your website and email reachable during the switch.
Does my email keep working when I use Cloudflare?
Yes. Cloudflare only routes the web traffic of your website through its network. The records for your email, i.e. MX and other mail records, are kept as plain DNS records and continue to point directly to your mail server. During the switch we carefully take over all mail records and then check that emails are delivered and sent as usual.
Which Cloudflare plan is the right one?
For many smaller websites the free plan with DDoS protection, CDN and SSL is sufficient. Professional websites benefit from Pro with managed WAF rules, shops and business-critical applications from Business with extended protection and support. Do I still need Imunify360 with Cloudflare?
We recommend both, because the solutions protect at different levels. Cloudflare filters attacks and DDoS traffic in front of your server. Imunify360 protects the server itself, finds injected malware in files and databases and stops malicious scripts. We align both so that your server receives the real visitor addresses and protection rules work reliably.
