A Plane server gives you your own server with guaranteed resources and a fully set-up Plane – we handle installation, updates and backup.
Plane combines work items, cycles (sprints) with progress tracking, modules, saved views, pages and analytics in one web interface. We install the free Community Edition on your own managed virtual server in Germany and handle updates and daily backups; if you wish, we connect GitLab or Mattermost.

What is Plane?
Plane is open-source project management software. You manage tasks as work items with rich-text descriptions and file attachments and plan in cycles (sprints) with progress tracking. You break large undertakings into modules, save and share filters as views, keep notes and documentation on pages, and analytics show the state of your projects. Because Plane runs on your own server, your project data stays in Germany. We handle installation, updates and daily backups. Ask for advice
Which Plane edition do you install?
We install the free Plane Community Edition. It is released under the open-source licence AGPL-3.0 and can be run on your own server without licence costs. We set up Plane, keep Plane and the system up to date and back up the data daily. We are happy to answer questions about the vendor's further editions on request. Send an enquiry
Why do the Plane servers start at VPLA250?
Plane consists of several services: web interface, API, background processing, database, cache and file storage. Together they need more memory than a simple ticket system. For the Docker installation the vendor states at least 2 CPU cores and 4 GB RAM, with 8 GB recommended. With 4 CPU cores and 8 GB RAM, VPLA250 offers enough headroom to run several projects. We are happy to advise you.
Do I get root access?
No. The servers are managed servers: you work via SSH and in the Plane web interface, and we handle installation, updates and monitoring. This keeps the server secure and up to date. Because we take responsibility for secure operation, root access is not included. For you this means no effort for patches and maintenance, and more time for your projects. If you need additional software or a special configuration, our specialists set it up for you by arrangement.
Can you install additional applications?
Yes. We install and configure integrations with GitLab, Mattermost or further applications by arrangement. This turns your server into a complete development and project environment, looked after by a single provider. It is important that the server has enough resources for all applications – we are happy to recommend the right size. For special requirements we also design your environment individually, for example with high availability on our VEP Cloud. Send an enquiry
What is the contract term?
The minimum term is 1 month. You order your Plane server conveniently via our order form, and we set up the server and Plane for you. All prices are monthly and include 19% VAT; alternatively you can pay yearly – you will find the yearly prices with each plan. If you have questions about the contract or the right server size, our specialists are happy to advise you personally.
Can I upgrade later?
Yes, you can move to a larger server at any time. If your team grows or the load increases, you can switch from VPLA250 to VPLA350, for example, and get more CPU cores, memory and NVMe storage. That way you start with the size you need today. For even higher requirements we run your server with high availability on our own VEP Cloud on request. Get in touch – we plan the switch together with you.
Where are the servers located?
In German data centres. LCube itself is certified to ISO/IEC 27001, and operation is GDPR compliant. Your server runs on brand-name hardware with unlimited traffic and is backed up daily. Our team is based in Germany too – when you have questions, you reach experienced specialists rather than a call centre. We have been providing hosting for businesses since 1995 and know what secure development and project environments require.
