Will my existing Perl script run at LCube?
In most cases, yes: Perl and CGI scripts run in every web hosting plan, and you can take over many proven applications without rebuilding them. If your script uses special Perl modules, our specialists are happy to check in advance whether everything required is available. This way you know before moving that your application will run reliably with us.
Can I test the plan for free first?
Yes. You can test the plan free of charge and without obligation for one month: click “Try free for 1 month” or tick the trial option in the order form. After the trial period you receive an email. If you want to continue, book the plan – your data and access details are kept. If you do not reply, the trial plan is deleted and there are no costs. One trial plan is possible per customer.
Do I need SSH access for Perl?
No. You upload Perl and CGI scripts and call them via the web server – this works in every plan without SSH. You only need SSH access if you want to run or test scripts on the command line. The BusinessPaket and BusinessPaket Pro provide it, and you can switch at any time without data loss.
Can I use Perl with a MySQL database?
Yes, from the PowerPaket upwards. It includes ten MySQL databases, the BusinessPaket 20 and the BusinessPaket Pro 40. This lets you run Perl applications that store or evaluate data, such as forms with data storage or internal tools. The Micropaket includes no database and is therefore suited to individual scripts without data storage.
