When do I need GitLab VEP Cloud Gold instead of Silver?
We recommend GitLab VEP Cloud Gold when a GitLab outage directly holds up your development and delivery – for example with many teams, regular releases or client projects with fixed deadlines. Gold offers 99.99% instead of 99.9% stated availability, geo-redundancy with a second location and a backup in an independent data centre.
Which configuration do I need?
L has the same resources as our GitLab Team, which we recommend for up to approx. 100 users, XL like GitLab Business with approx. 500 and XXL like GitLab Enterprise with approx. 1,000 users. Many parallel pipelines, the container registry or security scans need more resources. We are happy to advise you based on your current usage.
What does geo-redundancy mean for GitLab?
If the Hanover location fails completely due to a major incident, your GitLab keeps running at a second location. There the server receives a new IP address – short TTL values for your DNS records ensure that Git clients, runners and integrations reconnect quickly. In addition, a backup is kept in an independent data centre.
Can you take over our existing GitLab instance?
Yes. We take over your existing GitLab instance via backup and restore and then update to the current version. We plan the migration together with you so that your team can carry on working as smoothly as possible – whether you are moving from your own server, another provider or one of our GitLab servers.
Why is the term 12 months?
GitLab VEP Cloud Gold is designed for long-term, business-critical operation. With a 12-month term we can provide the stated availability of 99.99% and the redundant infrastructure it requires at predictable monthly prices.
