Why do the SonarQube servers start at VSQ250?
SonarQube consists of a web interface, an analysis service, a PostgreSQL database and a built-in search index based on Elasticsearch. Together these services need considerably more memory than a ticket system or chat. With 4 CPU cores and 8 GB RAM, VSQ250 offers enough headroom for analyses and the web interface to stay responsive even with several projects. A smaller server would quickly become a bottleneck in your pipelines.
How many projects is VSQ250 enough for?
For a team with several active projects analysed with every build, VSQ250 is the right size. What matters is less the number of projects than the size of the code bases and how often analyses run at the same time. If analyses become slower or large projects are added, you move to VSQ350 – your projects, rules and results are kept.
Do I get root access?
No. You work via SSH; we handle installation, updates and monitoring. VSQ250 is a managed server: because we take responsibility for secure operation, root access is not included. For you this means no effort for patches and maintenance, and more time for your projects. If you need additional software or a special configuration, our specialists set it up for you by arrangement.
Can you install additional applications?
Yes, by arrangement – for example SonarQube plugins, your commercial licence or the GitLab integration. This turns your server into a complete development and project environment, looked after by a single provider.
