Frequently asked questions about the root vServer
What is a root vServer?
A root vServer is a virtual server with full root access. It runs on powerful hardware together with other virtual servers, but your CPU cores, memory and NVMe storage are reserved. You install and configure the operating system and software yourself – with the same freedom as on your own physical server, but at a much lower price.
Root vServer or managed vServer?
With the root vServer you have full control, but you are also responsible for installation, updates and security yourself. With the managed vServer we take over these tasks for you. If you have Linux skills and want to design your environment yourself, the root vServer is ideal. Without your own administrator we recommend the managed option.
Can you install the updates for me?
Yes, with our update service. For 11,90 € per month and server we add your root vServer to our update system and install the package updates from the repositories of your operating system, including security updates. The update service is available for RPM-based systems: AlmaLinux, Rocky Linux, CentOS Stream and Fedora. You keep your root access, and you schedule restarts yourself, for example after a kernel update. Simply mention the update service in the message field when ordering.
Can I use Plesk?
Yes. When ordering you can add Plesk Web Admin, Web Pro or Web Host. With it you manage websites, databases and email conveniently in a web interface. If you prefer to work without a panel, choose no configuration and set up the server exactly as you like.
What is the contract term?
The minimum term is 3 months. After that the contract renews according to your billing period. When your project grows, you can move to a larger package with more CPU cores, memory and NVMe storage at any time. Our specialists are happy to advise you on the right size.
Where are the servers located?
Exclusively in German data centres. Operation is GDPR compliant, and LCube itself is certified to ISO/IEC 27001. Our servers run on brand-name hardware with excellent network connectivity. We have been running servers for businesses since 1995 and support our customers personally, with direct contacts instead of an anonymous hotline.
