Is GitLab Team enough for our team?
As a guideline, GitLab Team is designed for up to approx. 100 users – with 6 CPU cores, 12 GB RAM and 120 GB NVMe SSD as guaranteed resources. Actual requirements depend on usage: many simultaneous pipelines, large repositories or an extensive registry need more power. Users and projects themselves are unlimited. You can move to a larger plan at any time, and our GitLab specialists will gladly help you choose the right one.
How much CI/CD can GitLab Team handle?
The builds themselves run on GitLab runners, which deliberately operate separately from the GitLab server. Your server with 6 CPU cores and 12 GB RAM controls the pipelines and manages repositories, merge requests and the container registry. For teams of up to approx. 100 users with regular pipelines, this is well sufficient. If very many pipelines run in parallel or the registry grows strongly, GitLab Business is the next step. On request we also provide pre-configured runners.
We currently use GitHub or Bitbucket – how do we switch to GitLab Team?
You transfer your repositories with their complete history, all branches and tags, for example via git push --mirror into newly created GitLab projects. You then set up users and groups in the web interface – without licence costs per user. Your pipelines are rebuilt in the .gitlab-ci.yml. Ideally, test the switch with your team free of charge for one month first. If you have questions, our GitLab specialists will help you personally.
Can I try the GitLab server first?
Yes, you can try GitLab free of charge and without obligation for one month. That way your team can see under real conditions how version control, code reviews, issues and CI/CD run on your own GitLab server. Can I move from GitLab Team to a larger plan later?
Yes. If your team grows beyond the guideline of about 100 users or you run more CI/CD pipelines, we extend the resources of your server and you move to GitLab Business with 8 CPU cores, 16 GB RAM and 160 GB NVMe (guideline about 500 users). Can you take over our existing GitLab instance?
Yes, we migrate your existing GitLab instance free of charge. Tell us your GitLab version after ordering; we restore your backup and then update to the current version. Your projects, repositories and users are preserved, and you carry on working right away on your new managed GitLab server in Germany. Our GitLab specialists accompany the migration personally and coordinate the process with you.
